If the level drops the Boveda packs releases moisture bringing it back up. If the humidity rises, the Boveda pack soaks it up, keeping it at the perfect humidity no matter the atmospheric changes. Unlike distilled water and PG solutions with sponges/gel/crystals/beads which can affect your tobacco products, Boveda's reverse-osmosis membrane only releases pure water vapor and Boveda will never damage anything through direct contact.
