Por Larrañaga Cuban Cigars

Por Larrañaga is a historic Cuban cigar brand founded by Ignacio Larrañaga in Havana in 1834. It is one of the oldest names still represented within the Habanos portfolio and is particularly associated with aromatic light-to-medium-strength Cuban cigars.

The filler and binder tobaccos used for Por Larrañaga are sourced from the Vuelta Abajo zone of Pinar del Río, Cuba's most celebrated tobacco-growing region. Habanos produces both long- and short-filler Por Larrañaga cigars internationally, while the cigars offered in the UK portfolio are totally handmade using long filler.

The brand is known for a relatively gentle and aromatic smoking character. Depending on vitola and maturation, typical flavour characteristics can include honeyed sweetness, caramel, cream, cedar, toasted tobacco, nuts and mild spice.

The traditional Petit Coronas remains one of the best-known Por Larrañaga cigars in Britain. It uses the classic Mareva format at 129mm x 42 ring gauge. The slender Montecarlos measures 159mm x 33, while the Picadores increases the dimensions to 127mm x 48.

Introduced to the UK in 2021, the Galanes measures 120mm x 52 and was the first heavy-ring-gauge vitola added to the brand's standard portfolio. It provides a contemporary alternative while retaining Por Larrañaga's established light-to-medium blend.

Por Larrañaga therefore offers a distinctive alternative to fuller Cuban marques, combining traditional handmade Havana construction with an aromatic and characteristically sweeter style.
