The current El Pelo de Oro blend combines a Costa Rican Pelo de Oro wrapper with Vuelta Abajo 1941 binder grown in Costa Rica and Peruvian Pelo de Oro filler. Felipe Gregorio classifies the cigar as medium to full strength.

The manufacturer's stated flavour profile combines almond, sea salt and butterscotch, creating a balance of nutty, savoury and sweet characteristics. The ancestral Cuban-seed tobacco contributes further aromatic depth to the blend.
