Glengarry Flake is a quiet and dignified pipe tobacco from Gawith Hoggarth’s Lakeland blends. It’s similar to their other bolder blends, but it has a more subtle and refined flavour. It’s one of my favourites for relaxing in the afternoon.
The tobacco is made from pure Virginia leaf and pressed into thick flake form the old-fashioned way. You can see the history in every slice. What makes Glengarry special is the delicate application of Lakeland essence. It’s not as strong as Ennerdale, but it has a gentle floral-sweet top note with hints of geranium and bergamot. The smoke is smooth and tangy with a hint of Kendal minerality. It’s easy to light and burns well, but folding a flake gives you a more satisfying experience. It’s a medium-strength tobacco that’s perfect for those who are new to Lakeland blends or just want a civilised and distinguished flake.
I love to pair Glengarry Flake with a strong cup of tea, a dog at my feet, and an open window to let the sea air in. It’s simple, uncomplicated, and unforgettable.
