If you’re a regular UK Tobacco customer you might have noticed that UK Tobacco has been updating our lines in compliance with new tobacco restrictions introduced In May 2016. By May 2017, tobacco products that aren’t compliant with these regulations will not be able to be sold in the UK.
What do these new regulations mean?
Regulations will enforce changes to the way tobacco is packaged. The size of health warnings will be increased to cover 65% of the front and back of pack (previously, 30% on front and 40% on back of pack).
There will also be changes to the pack size of cigarettes, now being sold in minimum packs of 20 or a minimum weight of 30g for roll-your-own tobacco. Menthol and other characterized flavour cigarettes will be phased out, with a total ban being introduced by 2020 in the UK.
How will these regulations affect the products that UK tobacco sells?
Much of the tobacco you know and love will be compliant with these regulations which will mean a change in packaging accommodate new health warning sizes. Other tobacco may now be sold in new sized tobacco or be rebranded. Still, the newly packaged tobacco will remain the same quality product that you are used to purchasing from us.
